December 11, 2008 Maricopa, AZ: Today, Orbitel Communications announced that a nationwide Digital TV (DTV) transition test has been scheduled by the American Cable Association and the National Broadcast Association on Wednesday December 17, between 6:20pm-6:45pm. All local Phoenix broadcast TV stations and area cable operators will participate in the test which will allow viewers the opportunity to test their television sets for DTV transition readiness. The test will be approximately 5-15 minutes in length to allow time for viewers to turn on and test each TV set in their home. A message will appear on the screen informing viewers if they are not DTV ready. The message will instruct viewers to purchase a DTV converter box or contact their cable company if their cable system is not ready for DTV transition. The Digital Television transition will take place on February 17, 2009. On this day, all broadcast TV stations across the country will cease broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital format. How do you know if you're ready for DTV? If your TVs are connected to Orbitel, then you are ready. Orbitel has already completed its DTV transition upgrades.
